My Days In The Infant Rooms at TBE
Hi, my name is Rachel. Here is a picture of me.
Do you like my pink hat? Today is my first day at TBE Preschool in the infant room. I was born three months ago and now it’s time for me to start preschool. I would like to share my time at TBE with you. From the moment I started school, I gathered information with every action I took. I saw hands that I could touch, fingers that I could hold, and sensed a good feeling all around me. From what I can tell, I’m gaining knowledge as I learn with my whole body and all my senses. My brain is telling me to create actions to express what I feel and want from the kind people around me.
Well, the first few months in school were totally cool. I must admit, though, life has been a little intense. So much has happened in so little time. I’m growing bigger and my brain power is increasing every day. I think the next few months are going to be awesome!!
Peek-a-boo, I see you. Wow!! That game with my teacher is fun. I love exploring things in many ways such as shaking, banging, throwing, and dropping. New skills are starting to develop. I can roll from my back to my stomach or vice versa and creep forward on my hands and knees.
SEE!!
Did you notice my new hat with pants to match? Now that I’m growing by leaps and bounds, I’m really starting to dig this thing called communication. My teachers are constantly singing songs to me, and we are having a wonderful time communicating throughout the day. I can recognize pictures by name because my teachers read stories to me every day and, of course, I have a few of my favorites.
The last few months of my first year are here and I just love sitting up to play with my toys. Did you know that you can put things into a container and then take them out for no reason? I guess there is a reason, but I’m not sure yet. Now my adorable babbling noises are starting to sound like real words. I’m covering so much ground that the Energizer Bunny is jealous. Walking two or three steps with a helping hand is now possible…yippy! See me in my walking hat? Oh no, I forgot my pants!
I’m a big girl now and I only need one nap at school, not two. Now that I have reached my one-year birthday and walking, I will be moving upward and onward to our mobile infant room next door. By attending preschool this last year, my whole body and all my senses now know what they want…a warm and loving place with trusting relationships. So, before I say goodbye and show you “what a day in my life at preschool” looks like, I would love for you to stop by TBE and visit our extraordinary infant room. BTW, it has a waiting list so jump on the list soon.
Here is a Day in My Life at Preschool
Arrival Time - at school around 8:00am. I saw my teacher with a kind smile, and I waved goodbye to my daddy.
Choice Time - I chose to play in the house area with pots and pans. David played there too, but I just watched him.
At Snack Time - I had yogurt and crackers and paused often to watch my other friends at the table. Then I walked over to the changing table and received a clean diaper from my teacher.
Choice Time - came again, but this time I played with blocks, stacking them as high as I could. And then I carried a book to the teacher for her to read. David joined me again; I think he likes me.
Group Time - was fun. We had bells that we could shake and then we went to the book area to look at books together.
Outside Time - is my favorite time of the day. First, we go for a walk in our buggy. That’s me, first seat on the left. And then we play on the playground. I saw a butterfly fly by me.
Lunch Time - begins at noon, and I sat at the table with David, of course. Today’s lunch was spaghetti. I tried to eat it with a spoon, but my fingers worked better.
Nap Time - starts after lunch, but before nap time I had to get my diaper changed because you-know-what was in there. While I was getting my diaper changed, I saw a doggy out the window.
Read-aloud Time - My teacher read a story about a dog. That was so cool because I just saw one earlier today.
Snack Time - was here again. We had bananas and I licked my fingers clean. This time I sat next to Benjamin. I hope I didn’t make David jealous.
Our second Outside Time - quickly creeped up on us and I decided to ride a wheelie toy and then push a small grocery cart filled with balls and leaves.
During Choice Time - I got to use crayons and paper. Such fun!
In addition to our daily schedule, every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, we have Judaica story time in our library, a classroom visit from our Rabbi, and an exciting Tot Shabbat service with Rabbi and our music director.
Well, the end of my school day is here. My mommy picked me up and I gave the teacher a big hug. I hope you enjoyed my time and my adventures in learning at TBE. My parents and teachers help to guide me with values, understanding, and love, in hopes that one day I will love and guide someone else. Goodnight and Shabbat Shalom!
